Vital for life
Vitamin means ‘vital for life’. Your child needs lots of essential vitamins and minerals for their growth and development - including vitamins A, B group, C, D and E and minerals such as calcium, iron, iodine, selenium and zinc. These nutrients help a child to grow, to see, to make bones, muscles, skin and organs, and lots of other things too. Deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals can lead to serious problems.
The best way to ensure your child gets the nutrients they need is to provide a wide variety of fresh foods, such as mushrooms, in their diet. Our bodies absorb vitamins, minerals and other nutrients better when they come from food, rather than from vitamin and mineral supplements.
**Parent tip for fussy eaters: Finely chopping 100 grams of mushrooms into your next bolognaise, cottage pie or lasagne is an easy way to sneak a massive amount of nutrients into your kids’ diet! And best of all, with mushrooms’ ‘meaty’ consistency and savoury taste, fussy kids won’t even know they’re there!
